Ben Howard

My longing to hear Ben Howard’s acoustic of One Love is profuse. So much love and warmth for this song and his music. I’ve noticed not many people know who he is, at least my friends don’t. They’re too busy being mainstreamed.  You, my readers (so many of you…) must know him. He’s new, different, and melancholically wonderful. On a…

Alex Clare - Too Close

Here is another British musician.

He mixes a bit of dubstep into this song. His album Lateness of the Hour was produced by Diplo and Switch, this explains the use of dub. I hope people get to hear more about him, his songs are good! Anyhow, I wanted to make a quick post before going to class, see ya!

Daughter - Youth (The Wild Youth EP)

If you don’t know Daughter. You.Are.Welcome.

It’s a UK band; the lead singer is Elena Tonra who has just the most wonderful voice, so wonderful that this is what I wake up to in the morning (I change my alarm songs every so often). Igor Haefeli plays the guitar and that’s about it for the band members!

The lyrics to this song are so powerful to me, as I read them I can actually feel it and I start thinking of lost lovers and the pain they have caused. The part that hits me most is this:

And if you’re still breathing, you’re the lucky ones.
Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs.
Setting fire to our insides for fun
Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong
The lovers that went wrong.

Want more? Listen to Candles, Landfill, The Woods and Home.

Sebastien Tellier - Kilometer (A-Trak Remix)

Found out about Sebastien T. just hopping from video to video on youtube and I really like it! I also noticed that his songs were used by Sofia Coppola in some of her films (Lost in Translation and Somewhere). This remix adds a bit more funk to it, the original is too slow. And the video… it speaks for it self. It is humorous to me because he is surrounded by all these girls who eat aphrodisiac food (I was disturbed with the hot dog scene though) and he pays them with checks. Checks!

The Strokes
I'll Try Anything Once

I’ll Try Anything Once by The Strokes has been stuck inside my head for a week. I honestly think this song will never lose my interest.

So sweet and soothing to my ear.

It makes me feel just lovely.

From the soundtrack of Sofia Coppola’s film Somewhere

Thoughts of this movie from me coming near you sometime in 2012!

But for now just listen :)
